The GCSE course consists of
three main aspects:
Composing - Exploring, Improvising, selecting, shaping and refining movement to create a dance using a knowledge of choreographic forms. Performing - Developing your own personal performance skills to become technically competent and to explore interpretation and expression. Appreciating - A study of the meaning and significance of dances both proefessional and your own through description, interpretation and evaluation. |
PerformancePerformance is broke into two categories on the GCSE Dance course:
- The GCSE Set Dance which is worth 20%. - The group performance which is worth 20%. |
Written ExamThe GCSE written paper focuses on the two 'Set Works', performance skills and choreography skills. 20% of the final GCSE Grade.

ChoreographyChoreography takes up 40% of the final GCSE Grade.
- Solo Composition (4A) motif development - 15%. - Solo Choreography - (25%). |
